Oil & Gas Education Outreach
EKT Interactive actively gives back to the community through a variety of university outreach programs, advisory board memberships, pro bono consulting projects and paid student internships.
Society of Petroleum Engineers
One or two times a year, depending on demand (and usually the price of oil!) the SPE Gulf Coast Section presents its Oil Patch Orientation.
The Gulf Coast Section is the largest and most active section of the SPE, and this program has become the most popular event on it’s calendar. Money raised from this event benefits the SPE GCS scholarship fund.
This seminar is the most popular SPE program.
The course is designed as non-technical audio-visual guided tour through the oil patch, illustrating the basic equipment and techniques used in the discovery, development and production of petroleum.
Marty Stetzer has been a presenter at this event since 2008 and delivers the opening segment entitled “Game Changing Events Affecting Future Career Opportunities in Oil and Gas”. His topics include current state of the industry, supply and demand forces and price volatility, unconventional technologies in upstream oil and gas and their effect on opportunities in our industry.

Digital Media Program
EKT Interactive has been involved with the UofH Digital Media program for the last 4 years.
In 2014, we had the opportunity to support their capstone “Integrated Media” course for graduating seniors.
For this project, we offered the students our Oil 101 – Introduction to Upstream ebook and asked them to bring it to life!
Going from a static pdf to a dynamic, interactive learning experience took loads of work and called on all the skills the students had learned.
Below is a shot of one of the DIGM teams shooting video in our studio. It was an amazing project, a great real-world learning experience and mostly a lot of fun for all of us.
