About the Experts
John Archer
John is Senior Energy Solution Architect for Red Hat, the world’s leading provider of open source software solutions. John advises energy and utility clients on modern application and data architectures which leverage micro services, mobile, Business Rules and Process technologies — all running on container platforms. Most recently John has been focused on SCADA modernization along with Open Platform IoT based solutions to publish curated data to newly formed Data Science teams.
Prior to Red Hat, John represented Oracle at the Department of Defense working with the Air Force and Defense Manpower Data Center (DMDC) and other federal agencies. In total, he has over 26 years experience in providing I/T and business solutions to a wide variety of industries.
John also spent twelve years with Oracle and BEA Systems. When working with Upstream E&P, his focus is on production optimization, and improved rig data and real-time data analytics.
Between his time at BEA Systems and Oracle, John was at Petris (now part of Halliburton) were he was the Product Manager for the core data integration product (formerly PetrisWinds Enterprise) that allowed for the search (text and spatial), movement and data quality for the leading solutions from Schlumberger, Landmark, Paradigm, IHS – GeoLog, GeoFrame, Petrel, Petra, OpenWorks.
John represents Red Hat in the Energistics consortium and is working with MIMOSA and the Eclipse IoT community.
Marty Stetzer
