Young Professionals in Energy
Young Professionals in Energy (YPE) is a non-profit organization with more than 12,000 members in its Houston Chapter. By providing a forum for networking and career development through social, educational and civic service opportunities, YPE aims to facilitate the advancement of young professionals in the global energy industry.
Oct 1: YPE Presents Noble Energy CEO
Recent breakthroughs in advanced drilling technologies have unlocked vast amounts of resources in the state of Colorado. The state’s vast fossil fuel resources include the Niobrara shale, with resource estimates at 2 billion barrels of oil. From 2007 to 2011, crude oil production in the state rose 64 percent and marketed natural gas production rose 27 percent.
Technology breakthroughs bring substantial benefits to the state’s citizens and the local economy. Noble Energy’s CEO will discuss how the industry is focused on sustainable development, so that these needs can be met not only in the present but also for generations to come, as well as the economic benefits locally and statewide.

SPE Gulf Coast Chapter
SPE is an international volunteer non profit organization that has many sections all over the world. The Houston section, named the Gulf Coast Section, takes pride in being one of the largest and most active of the SPE sections. The Gulf Coast Section was established back in 1935.
The mission of the Society of Petroleum Engineers’ Gulf Coast Section is a volunteer non profit organization that enhances technical knowledge among our members through local events, promotes camaraderie and networking in our industry, educates and serves the community, and provides scholarships to students entering the oil and gas industry. GCS raises money through their various events which support over $250,000 of scholarships every year.
