June 3-5: NEI 4th Annual Shale Energy Conference
Domestic shale energy provides a real opportunity to help America reduce reliance on foreign oil imports, and produce a long-term domestic supply of natural gas. But, to realize that potential requires the creation of an enabling national infrastructure and responsible development of this American resource.
The Nemacolin Energy Institute’s 4th Annual Shale Energy Conference brings together industry leaders to discuss the opportunities and barriers to making the dream a reality for our Nation.

June 4: NORM and Unconventional Oil & Gas Production
Naturally occurring radioactive material (NORM) and conventional oil and gas (O&G) production have been associated for decades. NORM is part of all soil and rock and any activity involving soil and rock, including mining, drilling and even home building. More recently, however, unconventional O&G production has changed the dynamic between NORM and soil/rock activity. This presentation touches on NORM, technologically enhanced NORM (TENORM) and their relationship with unconventional O&G production activities.

June 6: Allegheny County Health Dept Toxic Air Emissions Policy
The Allegheny County Health Department (ACHD) recently finalized its policy with regard to review of toxic air emissions from new or significantly modified sources. The policy, which has the potential to impact any new capital project, provides specific guidelines in terms of analysis of carcinogenic health effects and non-carcinogenic health effects from these sources. In certain cases, the analysis will ultimately require the applicant to conduct air dispersion modeling in addition to emissions quantification as part of the installation permit application.
Join Trinity for lunch and a review of this new policy and implications for new projects. We will also walk through case studies and examples of the application of this policy, including high level review of the considerations for performing an air dispersion modeling analysis under the policy.
